I agree that the Japs proved a formiddable force - but both they and the Germans would be unprepared for the Russian winter - the Russian winter was used to kill Hitler just as it was Napolean. I'm sure we needn't bother speculating how the Italians would handle the Russian winter - I've seen Italians fail to handle a warm Russian winter in Moscow myself.

The Japaneese were pretty much brainwashed, they would fight to the last man no matter what, and were fine soldiers. If all the Germans needed to focus there war effort on during the war was Russia, there Army would be far more prepared and there numbers would be hire. Italy makes a number of resources and cannon fodder available.
By: vodkasvictim. on 03 Sep 09, 18:55:11
Maybe I'm not understanding you, in which case I apologise. However my opinion is unchanged - morale is of huge importance in war - the Japanese could only succeed in their last war against Russia because it was a naval war (and Russia's navy has always been a shadow of her army), the Italians haven't been militarily significant since they were Romans (WW2 turncoats) and the Germans, while a fine aggressor (WW1 &2) lacked numbers and weatherproofing to beat Russia.
By: Devilsfurry. on 03 Sep 09, 00:07:45
Your not understanding me, the whole historical aspect of Russia's wars is great (and even taken into consideration) but it doesnt tie into them being able to fight Germany, Italy, and Japan all at the same time.
By: vodkasvictim. on 02 Sep 09, 22:36:37
Yet the Russians have managed to win enough territory to be the single largest country on Earth even after the fall of the Soviet Union - frankly that's impressive, especially considering that Russia has been almost constantly under attack, historically speaking.
By: Devilsfurry. on 01 Sep 09, 21:19:09
Yes because the Machine guns at the rear of the charges of the conscripts was just for show. Any army will fight to defend whats precious to them, doesnt mean theyll win though.
By: vodkasvictim. on 01 Sep 09, 18:48:45
Because an army fights on morale (read war and peace;Tolstoy makes a very good point of this) and the Russians have always defended their Rodina, which means they always will.
By: Devilsfurry. on 29 Aug 09, 03:23:41
So tell me how Russia beatin France and Britain in the 1850's equates to Russia being able to take on Germany, Italy, and Japan in the 1940's?

I see the Dozer 600 thats a cool russian UAV its said to carry weapons

Easy bit? These other nations desperately needed help of defeating the Germans. D-Day was not Easy Bit and the only reason the russians made it into berlin was because we were fighting germany in western Europe. When they went in it was a cake walk. The French came into the Rev.War so late that even if they did help us it wouldve made no difference. We were kicking ass on land and the french came when the Brits were already losing and on the verge of surrender. We didnt need their help.
By: vodkasvictim. on 28 Aug 09, 21:53:45
Yes, I honestly do - even when Britain and France were the worlds ONLY two superpowers, when they needed to attack Russia (Crimean war) Those 2 mortal enemies who had fought each other forever.... teamed up. They couldn't go it alone against Russia and they never even reached moscow. By the way I'm not Russian, I was born in Britain.
By: vodkasvictim. on 28 Aug 09, 21:50:35
america has no right to boast; You didn't join 'till the turn which means you only came in for the easy bit at the end. You defeated the Brits only because of French help and the Brits being overstretched... Do you know what resources it takes to hold down 2 thirds of the earth? NO, because even today "mighty" america can't do so. You weren't the leading force and if the Russians were nowhere to be found, how did they get their paws on half of Berlin? Get your facts straight.

Can you honsetly believe that the USSR couldve taken on the Germans, the Italians, and the Japaneese all at the same time? You guys needed us as much as we needed you, if Hitler hadnt attacked the USSR and focused on taking over Britain, the war wouldve been lost. But if the Brits the US and the Canadians hadnt landed on Normandy and in Africa, then Hitler could focus the majority of his war effort on the USSR, hell they made it all the way to Stalingrad, on what they had at that time, imagine..
By: Dmega007. on 25 Aug 09, 22:44:39
In 1777 we werent even a military force. WE defeated the Brits, the French came soo late it didnt even matter. The US WAS the leading force in WWII, we did damn near most of the fucking work. The Russians defeated the Nazi's on their turf, big fucking deal, we took that shit all the way to berlin damn near and the russians were no where to be found. Yea America has the right to boast.
By: vodkasvictim. on 25 Aug 09, 14:31:34
Where were the Russians on D-day? They didn't need to be there - THEY defeated Hitler on their own turf & drove him back, just as they previously had with Napolean and would've done with the Kaiser. You could never have beaten the Brits in 1777 without the help of the French - back then your country was the superpowers pawn. YOU didn't defeat the Germans in WWII - You came late to the conflict & were merely part of the team that did do it. You even needed help to defeat the Japs. Stop boasting!
By: vodkasvictim. on 25 Aug 09, 14:28:33
Exactly - You should both team up and stop China :-)
By: Dmega007. on 20 Aug 09, 17:21:59
Lol single handedly? Where the russians on D-Day. Still licking their wounds from stalingrad. Dont talk about human determination when the US beat the Brits in 1777, WE defeated the Germans in WWII, and WE defeated the Japs in the Pacific Theater.
