By: Ursula McLean

Passed by someone who smelled great and did not resist the temptation of giving the person another look? It happens to all of us, though we undermine the sense of smell to give priority to looks, how people smell does leave a permanent mark on you. It is the same if someone smells excessively of sweat, this means the next time you meet this person, you are going to ensure that you place yourself a bit far away from this person, it is normal.

Smell does magic on people!

Subconsciously, people are attracted to those things that smell good, it can be a person, food, drink or simply a flower. When perfumes started being made throughout the world, this was the idea behind it, to make men and women smell good and feel better. Most of the perfumes are made by suing natural sources of good smell as main ingredient and adding chemicals that would both enhance the smell and would make it easy for use.

Perfumes started being made all over the world almost at the same time, however, women and men used flower and leaves to make them smell better and look more attractive. Hereby, came in the idea of extracting juices out of these sources of smell and using them on accessories and on person.

Though maximum numbers of perfumes are made from natural extracts, some
of the brands decided to make perfumes from chemicals only like the Chanel No. 5 which shot to fame because of its chemical composition and great smell. It is liked by a number of celebrities all over the world.

What are perfumes used for?

Perfumes through the years have become most important accessory for grooming, people use perfumes in its different form, though essentially liquids, application of perfumes can be done according to the occasion and the perfume you are using. Some perfumes need being applied by a stick, whereas some can be sprayed on, there is perfumes combined with roll on deodorizers which need to be rubbed on the place of application.

World over there are hundreds of companies that manufacture perfumes, not just that there are some which do not make perfumes per se, but these do make extracts from flowers and other natural substances used in perfumes. Raw materials made in these refineries are priced exorbitant, because you need using only a fraction of actual extract in a perfume.

Only extracts are not as pleasing as you may expect these to be, in fact using the raw materials in its actual form may be harmful. These have strong smell and its conditions may be damaging to skin or fabric. Use of perfumes need not be only for a special occasion, perfumes in some form or the other are being used today. You will find some perfume in a common thing like the soap. So, overall perfume has become one of the essentials of good living.

Perfumes alter moods and make you feel better; this is one of the reasons why perfumes in one form or the other are in use.
