Tips on Appraising Your Metal Detector Finds

The link between metal detecting and profits has long been established.
It has been clearly proven that metal detecting is not just an enjoyable
hobby but can be profitable one as well.

Metal detecting is such an enjoyable hobby. Statistical reports show that
almost 80% of treasure hunters are engaged in metal detecting.

Why? It is simply because treasure hunters love the way metal detecting
intensifies their craving for valuable finds, the endless digging of earth's
muddy texture, scooping tons of refined sand, or simply enjoying the
company of other treasure hunters.

Among all benefits of metal detecting, the appraisal of things you have
just found with metal detecting seems to be the most important or
significant aspect of the activity.

You will never know that you have actually recovered a treasure if you do
not submit it for appropriate appraisal.

Anyone can easily appraise an item recovered from metal detecting.
However, only a licensed or skilled appraiser can rightfully put a value on
your treasures. Hence, it is important to have your items appraised only by
a legitimate appraiser.

Why Appraise Things You Find with Your Metal Detector?

underneath the insulation, I found a glass piggy bank of old pennies. I also
found a rare old magazine and a few other minor treasures.

Our city collects large junk for free during a week each spring. We see
good bicycles, furniture, games, toys, chairs, and more, in front of almost
every house. Several people come with trucks and trailers to pick out
things to sell at flea markets or auctions. It's a regular source of income
for some of them. I'm sure this happens in other cities too.

Finding precious items, such as rare, collectible coins, is only half the battle
in metal detecting. Getting them appraised appropriately completes the
entire process.

If you really want to know the value of the items you have found with
your metal detector, it is best to have them appraised.

Moreover, appraisals will enable you to get your items covered by
insurance or classify your items according to their value.

To get you started, here are some tips on appraising:

1. Make sure your appraisal is current

Appraisals change or modify every year so it is best to have your items
appraised with the current provisions.

2. Set a budget for appraisal

Getting your items appraised requires a particular service charge.
Professional appraisers do not provide their services for free. After all,
getting some value from metal detecting finds is not an easy thing.

3. Never sell your items to your appraiser. You will only get lower value for
your metal detecting items.

4. Only submit your items to a legitimate and reputable appraiser. This will
guarantee your items' proper value. With the increase in unscrupulous
activities these days, you can only trust reputable appraisers near your
area.

Indeed, getting your items appraised is the most important part of the
process. You will never know their value unless you have them appraised.

I have hidden money several times in my life. Many people do. What
happens when people die unexpectedly? The money and valuables they
hid remain where they are until discovered. There is an estimated several
billion dollars in hidden currency alone in this country, and who knows how
much in silver, gold, jewelry and other things.
