A Richly Scented Candle

By: Kevin J.P. Maclintosh

Aromatherapy scented candles are known to improve a person's overall mood and disposition because they contain essential oils that are proven to have therapeutic uses. The use of scented candles forms part of alternative or supplemental medicine because there are traditional medical practitioners who do not consider aromatherapy as an exact science. In fact, modern medicine per se, as well as its practice, is also not considered as exact science.

This explains that acquiring aromatherapy to improve your mood and disposition is not harmful. As long as it will not be used as an alternative treatment for clinical depression, aromatherapy is considered not harmful at all.

A person may apply aromatherapy into his or her daily life in different ways. Among these are making use of oil burners and directly burning essential oils in order to allow its beneficial scent to circulate around the room, and simply using scented candles.

Aromatherapy, which includes the use of scented candles, is a romantic and soothing way to enhance you mood and disposition. Scented candles contain essential oils that are known to have soothing and healing properties. When these candles are lit, they are guaranteed to do wonders to your mood.

Aromatherapy, specifically the use of scented candles, may be enjoyed alone, or with a partner, or even by a group. An example of this is using scented candles while taking a bath in lieu of the usual bright lights in the bathroom. Another example is lighting scented candles in the bedroom while spending time with a loved-one. The use of scented candles may also be applied in group activities such as during dinner and during a yoga class.

You may choose any kind of aromatherapy scented candles, depending on the mood that you want to achieve.

For instance, an insomniac person can try lighting candles with jasmine or lavender scents as these have soothing effects that will help him or her relax, promoting better sleeping patterns.

However, when lighting candles, you must be careful and make sure that you put them on safe places to prevent accidents such as fire.

Aromatherapy candles with scents such as eucalyptus are recommended if you simply want to relax. It also helps revitalize your energy. Furthermore, eucalyptus can be used as a mosquito repellant.

If a person is tired, stressed, or generally in a bad mood, he or she may light candles with citrus scents such as orange and lemon. These scents have the ability to give a person the instant lift that he or she needs.

You must be aware though that there are scented candles available in the market today that do not have therapeutic uses. Such candles do not contain essential oils that are found in aromatherapy scented candles. They are usually composed of synthetic scents that may not help you in achieving the mood and disposition that you want to achieve.

It is not guaranteed that scented candles with synthetic odors have the same therapeutic effects found in aromatherapy scented candles. Therefore, people are advised to buy those that are authentically used for aromatherapy purposes. This can be determined by the price and by reading the label.

The essential oils contained in aromatherapy scented candles are similar to those used as base for expensive designer perfumes.
